Lawrence M. Rand, MD
Dr. Lawrence M. Rand is board certified by the American Board of Internal
Medicine. He has practiced as a geriatrician serving South Shore communities
since 1982. Dr. Rand has attending privileges at Mercy Medical Center in Rockville
Dr. Rand was raised and educated on Long Island. He received his Bachelor of
Science Degree with high honors from the University of Michigan in 1975 and his
Medical Degree at Mt. Sinai in NYC in 1979. Upon completing his residency
training at Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC in 1982, Dr. Rand became a partner in
Geriatric Care Associates in Bellmore and was an attending physician at South
Nassau Communities Hospital. After owning the practice for over 25 years, Dr.
Rand became part of Catholic Health Services of Long Island and is now the
primary physician of Mercy Geriatric Care Associates.
Over the course of his 35 year career, Dr. Rand has been active with various
organizations, both working and volunteering his time and services. He has been a
Clinical Instructor for Stony Brook University School of Medicine teaching medical
students. As a Clinical Assistant Professor at Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of
Medicine, Dr. Rand has mentored and taught medical students in his office. He
has sat on the Board for FOSSI, a not-for-profit corporation that supports
activities and funding for programs developed by Rockville Centre Senior Services.
Dr. Rand has also served as Medical Director of Oxygym, a comprehensive
pulmonary rehabilitation facility.
