Satellite and Related Organizations: Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center at Mercy

Since 1997, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center of New York City, the world's largest private institution devoted to advancing the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer, has extended its programs and services to the Long Island community through the formation of the MSK Cancer Center at Mercy Medical Center.  The world class treatment protocols, diagnosis techniques and staffing of MSK are now available at Mercy's Bishop McGann Center.  This joint effort between the two institutions offers the latest in diagnostic imaging techniques and radiation therapies.  Memorial Sloan-Kettering at Mercy also provides outpatient radiation oncology services and medical oncology services.  On-site facilities exist to make a proper diagnosis and to establish the extent of the disease, as well as to plan and deliver the proper course of therapy.  The center is staffed by Memorial Sloan-Kettering physicians and meets treatment standards established by MSKCC.

The existence of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center at Mercy Medical Center is an important addition in the fight against cancer on Long Island.  MSKCC brings the most technologically advanced cancer treatment to Mercy's service area residents who previously had to travel long distances to receive state-of-the-art oncology care.  This is particularly important because of the increased incidence of cancer on Long Island.
