Mercy Medical Center opens new Hospitality Rooms and Kosher Guest Kitchen

(November 07, 2006 -- Rockville Centre, NY) - Mercy Medical Center has recently opened two overnight hospitality rooms and a kosher guest kitchen in the hospital. These rooms are available to any family in need of a short-term overnight stay due to an emergency situation that may have arisen. “We are aware that there may be Jewish families who need to stay over on the Sabbath, for Shabbos or Yom Tov, these rooms were developed with these families in mind”, stated Nancy Simmons, Executive Director of Mercy. In addition to the twin beds and bathroom in each room, other amenities include a telephone, electric Sabbath candles, Jewish prayer book and nightlight. There is an adjacent kosher kitchen containing two microwaves and a refrigerator and pantry filled with all Kosher items.

These rooms were sponsored and stocked by the Chabad of the Five Towns and our sincere appreciation goes out to them for making this new service possible. Glatt Kosher meals are available for family and friends to purchase in the Patio Grill and in the Dining Room of Mercy Medical Center.

Arrangement can be made for these rooms through the Pastoral Care Department at 705-1414
