MERCY MEDICAL CENTER DEDICATES
“WALL OF APPRECIATION” TO SWIM ACROSS AMERICA
Swimmers Group Has Donated Over $1 Million
To Support The MIRACLE PAVILION
Home to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in Nassau County
(February 12, 2007 -- Rockville Centre, NY)
- Expressing thanks for the group’s donations totaling
more than $1 million since 2001, Mercy Medical Center has dedicated
a Wall of Appreciation to the Nassau/Suffolk Chapter of Swim
Across America in its “M.I.R.A.C.L.E.” Pavilion.
The pavilion is home to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer
Center in Nassau County, where MSKCC provides radiation oncology
and medical oncology services to Long Island residents, sparing
them the need to travel to Manhattan to benefit from the center’s
world-renowned cutting-edge care.
Founded in 1987, Swim Across America, Inc. (SAA) is a non-profit
organization dedicated to raising money and awareness for cancer
research, prevention and treatment through a variety of high
profile, swim-related events. SAA-Nassau Suffolk has raised
over $1.75 Million for their beneficiaries by hosting ‘Swims
to Fight Cancer’ at local pools and their annual ‘Sound to the
Cove Swim’ in Long Island Sound based at Morgan Park in the
City of Glen Cove. (For further information please visit: www.swimacrossamerica.org)
