FRIENDS OF MERCY MEDICAL CENTER GOLF OUTING RAISES NEARLY $100,000

(October 10, 2007 - Rockville Centre, NY) - Perfect weather, a large turnout, and the generosity of donors and participants combined to enable The Friends of Mercy Medical Center to raise $99,000 at their 26th Annual Golf Classic.

More than 200 golfers enjoyed play on September 20th at Rockville Links in Rockville Centre and the Hempstead Golf and Country Club in Hempstead, and provided a full house for the post-outing dinner paying tribute to James C. Herrmann of Rockville Centre.

Mr. Herrmann was honored for his many years of community service as a former captain in the Rockville Centre Volunteer Fire Department, past president of the Friends, a former member of the Board of Directors of Mercy Medical Center and Our Lady of Consolation Nursing Home, and a current member of the Boards of Trustees of the Long Island Power Authority, the State University of New York College at Old Westbury Foundation, and The Foundation of UCP of Nassau County.

The proceeds from the event will support Mercy Medical Center’s 24-Hour Emergency, Trauma and Express Care facilities.

The Friends of Mercy Medical Center was founded in 1935 as an organization of men dedicated to volunteering their time and efforts to raise funds for the construction of the new Hospital and advancement of medical and surgical care for the patients. The group sponsors several fund-raising events each year, including a black-tie St. Patrick’s Dinner in March and The Mercy Ball in December. In the past two years, the Friends have raised over $700,000 which supported a new radiology suite in hospital’s Express Emergency Care Center, and for the new North Pavilion which opened in February, 2006
