The purpose of the Occupational Health and Safety Department at Mercy Medical Center is to reduce the risk of injury to patients, staff and visitors. Our program is designed to address the safety risks that may occur in an acute healthcare setting and to assure compliance with all applicable code and regulations.
Hospital personnel receive training in fire safety, use of environmentally safe cleaning products, means of egress (exiting the building in the event of an incident), use of fire extinguishers, decontamination procedures, and are taught safe working habits.
Safety is dynamic. Regular evaluation of work practices and incidents is required to maintain a current relevant safety program that assures Mercy Medical Center is safe and environmentally friendly for all.
