Among Mercy Medical Center’s premier programs is its comprehensive inpatient Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Unit.  This highly specialized 33-bed facility is dedicated to the rehabilitative care of inpatients who have suffered catastrophic illnesses and injuries such as stroke, spinal cord injury, amputation, major orthopedic surgery and severe disabling arthritis. All therapy is supervised by our full-time physician, Perry Stein, M.D., who is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as well as Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Featured in New York Magazine as one of New York’s top Physiatrists, he is supported by Mercy’s dedicated and caring professional Nurses, who have a special interest in tending to this patient population. Utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and techniques to help patients reach their highest possible level of function and independence, the Unit’s staff includes the area’s top physical, occupational and speech therapists who provide compassionate, superior therapy to their patients.
