Mercy Medical Center has been recognized by a multidisciplinary national accrediting organization for the caliber of the noninvasive testing it provides for the early detection and diagnosis of vascular disease that can lead to heart attack and stroke.
Mercy is certified by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL) for its services in Peripheral Arterial Testing, Peripheral Venous Testing and Extracranial Cerebrovascular Testing.
The designation makes Mercy's program one of a select number of vascular laboratories in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico that meet or exceed the Commission's extensive standards that define the requirements for providing high quality care.
The ICAVL is dedicated to promoting high quality noninvasive vascular diagnostic testing in the delivery of health care by providing a peer review process of laboratory accreditation. It was established nearly two decades ago with the support of eleven medical societies including physicians, technologists, and sonographers that represent specialties including cardiology, neurology, radiology, vascular medicine, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, internal medicine and biology.
