Friends of Mercy Golf Classic Raises Over $100K For Mercy Medical Center
Rockville Centre, NY – More than 165 golfers participated in the 37th annual Friends of Mercy golf classic, held on Oct. 10, 2018 at Garden City Country Club, helping raise over $100,000. Funds raised support two construction projects, which include renovations to Mercy Medical Center’s Labor and Delivery (L&D) unit and construction of a Good Shepherd Hospice unit at Mercy.
Mercy’s L&D will be housed in a new Women’s Pavilion and will feature private suites, modern amenities and a complete spectrum of services for new and expectant mothers, and their babies. Completion is scheduled for spring 2019. Mercy is home to the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) on the south shore of Nassau County.
Good Shepherd Hospice will be a dedicated 12-bed unit providing care to patients whose symptoms cannot be managed in the home environment due to the need for complex treatments and frequent medication dose changes. Construction began in February 2018 and is expected to be completed later this year.
During the evening ceremony, Friends of Mercy Chairman, Michael J. Boranian, recognized United Sleep Diagnostic’s, Brian Falgoust, Greg Falgoust, Michael Bianco and Al Murray, as the Golf Classic Honorees for their innovation and partnership with Mercy on creating a quality sleep program. Mercy and United Sleep have been working together since 2004 to help improve the quality of sleep of those working in demanding fields. Just recently, Mercy and United Sleep were awarded a competitive contract from the MTA to provide sleep apnea screenings and treatment.
