Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program

The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency program at Mercy Medical Center is a three-year academic program. A one year internship is required prior to entering this program. The residency encompasses all aspects of training necessary to produce physiatrists proficient in understanding and treating the diverse patient population of our region.

Mercy is home to the largest Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit on the South Shore of Nassau County, and a Wound Care Center with Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment which opened  in  May 2015.

Mercy Medical Center's Residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation had its roots originally planted in Long Beach, NY at Long Beach Medical Center. Sadly, the hospital closed secondary to damage sustained from Super Storm Sandy.
